Mr. Kennedy is of counsel to Strange & Butler. Mr. Kennedy is a writer and an attorney. He is currently an Associate Scholar at the John Carter Brown Library at Brown University and a Member of the Board of the Overseas Private Investment Corporation (OPIC).

President Obama nominated Mr. Kennedy to be a Member of the Board of Directors of OPIC on May 17, 2011. Mr. Kennedy was confirmed by the United States Senate by voice vote on October 21, 2011. OPIC is the U.S. Government’s development finance institution. It mobilizes private capital to help address critical development challenges and in doing so, advances U.S. foreign policy and national security priorities. Because OPIC works with the U.S. private sector, it helps U.S. businesses gain footholds in emerging markets, catalyzing revenues, jobs and growth opportunities both at home and abroad.

Mr. Kennedy graduated from Harvard University with honors in 1988 and the University of Virginia Law School in 1992.

At the University of Virginia, Mr. Kennedy co-founded the Environmental Law and Conservation Clinic and served as President of the Student Legal Forum.

After law school, Mr. Kennedy served as an Assistant District Attorney, for the City and County of Philadelphia, PA. As an ADA, Mr. Kennedy tried more than one hundred cases for crimes ranging from possession with intent to deliver narcotics, to gunpoint robberies and shootings. He directed investigations of hundreds of felony prosecutions, handled line-ups, pre-trial motions, including motions to suppress physical evidence and defendants’ statements.

Mr. Kennedy is a member of the District of Columbia Bar, and the Bar Association of Washington, D.C.

Mr. Kennedy authored Danger's Hour: The Story of the USS Bunker Hill and the Kamikaze Pilot Who Crippled Her, published by Simon & Schuster.

Mr. Kennedy also edited and compiled the national best-selling book titled Make Gentle the Life of This World: The Vision of Robert F. Kennedy and the Words That Inspired Him.

Mr. Kennedy is also an avid sailor and a USCG Licensed Captain.
